My Compelling Story

Bhupali Kulkarni is a professional dancer based in Pune. She started learning Kathak from Dr Smt Sadhana Naphade from the age of seven. She is a statistician with a Master’s degree. Her fluency in tattkaar and bhava will leave you amazed. Bhupali has been also blessed by Kathak dance stalwarts such as Pt Birju Maharaj, Pt Rajendra Gangani, Smt Saswati Sen, Smt Shama Bhate, Smt Rekha Nadgauda, Smt Manisha Sathe, etc. She was awarded a Gurukul Scholarship by Spic-Macay, where she was taught by renowned dancer, Pt Birju Maharaj. She stood first in various dance competitions like Youth Festival, Unifest, etc. at national and international levels. She has imparted lectures on Aesthetics of Dance to ATD (Art Teacher Diploma) students in Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur. She has also given training to students of Bal Jagat- A project of Deen Dayal Shodh Sansthan. She has worked as a dance teacher at Ira International School, Butibori and Sruthilaya School of Performing Arts (Singapore). Bhupali recently opened a school, Kalapravaha - Home of Performing Arts, where she is working as a Director and a Kathak teacher. Some of the competitions she took part in are Kuchipudi Dance Festival (Vijayawada), Youth Festival (Rajkot and Chennai), and Ganesh Mahotsav (Sagar, Madhya Pradesh). She was also invited to perform in 'Aarambha' – a platform for upcoming artists by South Central Zone Cultural Center (SCZCC). She has appeared in a lead role at Kala Yatra, an extensive tour of Vidarbha (Maharashtra) to mark its 25th-year celebration of Nirzar Kala Sansthan, Kala Yatra by Goa.
