My Compelling Story
Fear Vortex is a LIVE band based out of the capital of Telangana, Hyderabad. The progressive metal band was formed in 2014 by guitarist, Rajiv, and keyboardist, Chaitanya. Their compositions paint portraits of inner thoughts and unanswered questions and journeys through placid melodies to aggressive rhythms, creating their own unique style. Shariq is the lead vocalist for Fear Vortex. After years of listening to metal and attending LIVE concerts, Shariq’s quest for finding the like-minded musicians ended with Fear Vortex. Like the rest, Shariq does not restrict himself with genres and draws influences from a wide variety of bands. Chaitanya started his career as a lobby pianist and a classic rock keyboardist. The keyboardist and founding member of the band, Chaitanya has been a performer, composer, songwriter, audio engineer, and a collaborator since he found that his soul was invested in music. He has played for bands like Nile and Akshar and is currently a full-time member of Fear Vortex and classic rock act - Alteregoz. From Western classical to classic rock to progressive metal, he finds inspiration in a variety of genres. He is featured in Aazad-E Vol III released by Times Music and three music videos with 'Kingfisher Strong Backstage' season. Chaitanya released his debut instrumental album through Artist Aloud, Mumbai. He is also a teacher and a keyboard mentor in Hyderabad. Rajiv is the lead guitarist and the other founding member of Fear Vortex. He decided to turn his back on the ID card life in 2014 to take up music full time. An ardent fan of virtuoso guitar music and progressive metal, he is always ready to shred on the six-string beauty. He also backs up Shariq on vocals. He began his journey with Legacy and Transition Elements in 2005 and a notable brief stint with the Hyderabad-based band, Joshua Tree. He searched long and hard to find the right guys for his endeavour – Fear Vortex. When not writing music with Fear Vortex, Rajiv shares the stage with The Black Sheep and many other musicians in Hyderabad. Music was always a part of Praveen's life as a ‘good’ church-going boy. He learnt music from the Hyderabad School of Symphonic Music in 2004. At some point, he drew a fascination to playing the bass. Inspired by many progressive metal bands, Praveen has played along with bands like Paradime, and many small time projects. And now providing the rumble from down under for Fear Vortex! Swaroop started music career by playing the guitar in a band and then got into drums. He began his journey with Cerebral Assassin in 2009. After two years, he started a band with a few good friends sharing similar musical tastes for metal called Perpetual Void. Swaroop has played a couple of shows within the city and some outstation gigs and competitions. When the band took a break to pursue further studies, Fear Vortex happened. With blessing of the existing band members who exclaimed - 'Look no further!' he took on the drummer role for Fear Vortex.
