My Compelling Story

The idea of Traces germinated in Hitesh’s mind in November 2011. After having played technical death metal in Abandoned Agony for more than 5 years, Hitesh was hit by a newer, fresher perspective towards music in general and sound in particular. Without a certain genre in mind, psychedelic and euphoric sounds became the focus. After a series of jam sessions with commendable musicians (drummers, bass players, guitarists, keyboardists and vocalists), it became more of a learning experience rather than a hunt for band members. It was here that Dileep was found and vocals were incorporated. A better direction of sound and genre was found and a couple of songs were written. The hunt for a drummer and a bass player then began who could complement and enhance the musical experience. It was early April in 2012 when they stumbled upon Shiv, an experienced bass player who had already been experimenting with ambient/psychedelic genres. The musical connection and the wavelength conjoined. After only a couple of jam sessions with the three of them. They needed a drummer to justify the intensity. Early July, Abhinav came on board with his intensity but feel oriented playing, added a new dimension to the sound. However, early in January 2013, Shiv and Abhinav both took off; Abhinav to SAM, Chennai and Shiv on a spiritual quest to an Ashram in Chintamani. Their places were soon taken by Shreyas on bass guitars and Vivian on drums. The new duo brought with them a new level of intricacy to music writing and lots more depth, hence redefining the band's sound. The band has been jamming since, solidifying their concept and sculpting the sound, the genre primarily being psychedelic/progressive rock.
