My Compelling Story
Yograj is a representative of the younger generation of accomplished Indian classical musicians in Goa. He belongs to a family possessing a rich heritage and a love for the performing arts. He has been performing professionally from the age of 15 at musical festivals. They were mostly at the national level. He received his initial training under the guidance of Guru Kareem Khan and was trained based on the principles of the Itawa Gharana. This style lays strong emphasis on rhythm along with melody. Yograj then received training under the guidance of Ustaad Shaahid Parvez since 1994 and still continues to receive his guru's guidance. He successfully experiments with the Indo-Jazz fusion genre. His reputation is spreading worldwide. At present, he leads an eight-piece Indo-jazz fusion ensemble called Shanti and hopes to spread world peace and unity when he makes music with this band.
